Largest Hemp Processing Facility In The US Set To Open In Southern Indiana
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning for HempRise at the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville.
HempRise, which extracts CBD from hemp and supplies it to other companies for things like medicines and oils, said it invested $80 million in the 100,000-square-foot facility.
The company said it hopes to teach more people about the benefits of CBD.
“So much money and investment has been made into new tech and into other industries, and we feel like not enough is being paid to our farmers and the agricultural sector,” said Danni Bramblett, regional sales manager for HempRise. “Hemp gives us a crop that is both profitable and sustainable, and there’s so many uses for hemp in general.”
HempRise said it chose to build in Kentuckiana because the crops are nearby and the area is close to many large cities. It will be the largest hemp processing facility in the U.S. and will employ about 50 people.
